Online Competition Sign-Ups

MAO members!

Those of you that have signed up and/or are still interested to participate in mathematics competitions, go to internetolympiad.org and register for an account. 

The NIMO contests are for members that want to compete individually, without the help from anyone else. The next NIMO contest will be held on March 3rd, 2013. 

The OMO contests are for teams of four students who will be working on 30 problems of differing degrees of difficulty for over a week.

The next OMO contest will be held from April 4, 2013 to April 15, 2014.

Prizes are offered for the members and/or that place in 3rd, 2nd, or 1st place, and these are Amazon gift cards.

Keep in mind that some of these competitions are coming up very soon, and if you do decide to compete, take it seriously, and commit to studying and preparing. The prize will be yours after all, so put forth your maximum effort.

More information is offered on the website itself, and if you have any questions regarding the competitions, contact me (Jacklyne), Mr. Nehme, or any of the officers, and I'll be happy to sit down and explain the process to you in more detail.

Due Date & Meeting Reminders!

Good evening, MAO!

Tomorrow, October 21st, is the due date for fees, membership forms, and essays.

New members, keep in mind that all 3 must be completed in order to be in MAO.

Old members, only the fee, and the membership form must be completed by tomorrow. The essay is only for new members.

Don't forget that tomorrow we will be having a lunch meeting, at 11:30 a.m., in Mr Nehme's room! Stop by Mr Nehme's room before lunch to get your meeting pass!

Karaoke Night

The Karaoke Night will take place February 12th in the Cafeteria at 6 PM

MAO members, the officers are dearly sorry, apparently there as a misunderstanding between Alfredo and Davis, where Davis did not write down the date of the Karaoke Night. Now, we officially have our date and it is the aforementioned date and time. Everything that we went over will not go for granted, instead we will continue with those committees, only that they will be delayed until mid January. 

Mandatory Meeting!

Attention Mu Alpha Theta members! Tomorrow, November 27th, there is a mandatory meeting. We will be disucssing the Induction Ceremony taking place on Thursday, November 29th. The meeting will take place in Nehme's room, 3106.

Attention all Mu Alpha Theta members and inductees, there will be a MANDATORY meeting on Monday, November 15, during lunch at 11:45 a.m in room 3106. Please be sure to eat prior to the meeting no food is allowed inside the building. Please keep an eye on the blog for any other information.

Our New Calendar!

Hello Mu Alpha Theta Members, this is our new calendar. There, you'll find important events, including meetings, days of tutoring, birthdays, etc.

All of the meetings are important, but we will stress the ones that are most imporant at least four days to a week advance. It is important that you are constantly checking the blog, if you do not attend the meetings you WILL be dropped out. Please, if you know that you will not be showing up, let Steven Sosa, David Pineiro, Stephanie Valdes, or Alfredo Valdivia know, and provide something in writing to keep track of your excused absenses.

First Inductee Meeting!

Welcome Inductees! Please be aware that your first meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 24! It is imperative that you show up, so please spread the word amongst your friends that are also inductees! Unless you've been informed that you were not selected to be part of our club, you should show up to the meeting. If there are any problems with the attendance please speak Stephanie Valdes (305)-397-4120 or Mr.Nehme in room 3106. The meeting will also be held on room 3106, again, it is very important that you show up, we will be discussing things such as the inductee ceremony, fundarising, and important future events.

Kennedy Space Center Field Trip!

First of all, we'd like to thank Elianis Nieves, president of the Social Studies Honor Society, for going through the pain of organizing this wonderful trip and, most importantly, inviting us to it!

Definitely, save the date Saturday, December 15, 2012!

If you are interested in attending this field trip contact Steven Sosa, who has the list of the participating members! This message is also for the inductees. Details on the price of the trip will be posted, so keep an eye on the blog for more details! It's going to be a wonderful experience and the itinerary will also be posted up.
